Mini-Grants
An Agriculture and Natural Resources Awareness Mini-Grants program has been developed as a component of the Florida Agricultural Awareness Initiative. This program is designed to enhance the efforts of county and state extension faculty in raising agriculture and natural resources awareness in counties and communities across the state.
A request for applications was released in January 2007, generating 36 proposals. The selection committee ranked the proposals on based on creativity, innovation, potential for significant impact on agriculture and natural resources awareness in Florida, and degree of collaboration between UF/IFAS extension faculty, researchers, and clientele and selected 12 proposals for funding. County extension faculty members were required to be involved in developing materials and/or delivering programs and materials created for the program. Ongoing agricultural awareness projects were not eligible for funding. Potential target audiences for the awareness programs included industry groups, students, media, policy makers, and the general public. Workshops, tours, media campaigns, special events, market research, and other types of projects were eligible for funding consideration. Up to $5,000 was provided to each mini-grant award recipient. Final reports detailing the activities and outcomes of each funded project are available by clicking on the title of the program.
